How to Celebrate Global Day of Parents?

“It’s not only children who grow, parents do too.” – Joyce Maynard

From teaching us the core values to loving us unconditionally, parents accept all the changes in their life to watch us grow. To appreciate the neverending role of parenting, the United Nations declared June 1st as Global Day of Parents in 2012. Countries across the world celebrate this day as an opportunity to highlight the selfless commitment of parents towards children and the lifelong sacrifices to nurture the relationship.

But, how can we celebrate this day? Allow us to guide you through.

Getting flowers is one of the most refreshing things that can brighten up the following day. Adore your parents by giving them a bunch of beautiful blooms and make them feel special. It is a perfect way to start the day with positivity and cheer. Go for tiger lilies and peonies that represent happiness and prosperity for a family.

  • Spend quality time together

Your parents need your presence more than any presents you might give. While you are busy with everyday life, you hardly get time to sit and talk with them. On this Global Day of Parents, make sure you take some time and spend it wisely together. Indulge in exciting activities with your parents like cooking, shopping, decorating the house, gardening, watching movies and shows, etc. It will bring the family together for a fun time.

  • Make some promises to yourself

Just because it is Global Day of Parents, you cannot make a day special for them and continue with the rest. It’s time to make some promises to yourself to stay connected to your roots and show your parents you’re available, just like them. Make sure you eat at least one meal of the day together. If you don’t live together, talk to them daily and monitor the ageing process. Remember special days like birthdays and anniversaries and let them feel loved.

  • Remind them they’re special

Your parents might have sacrificed a lot to keep you in good shape and provide you with the best of everything. It’s time to take care of them and let them know they’re special. You can send parent’s day gifts to your loving parents on this occasion. Be it cakes, wine hampers, dates, dry fruits, accessories or perfumes, your parents will love whatever you give. Tell them how well you’ve been raised by them by adding a small gift card to your present.

  • Be grateful for everything

You cannot love your parents selflessly as they did. But, you can surely be grateful for all they did to keep you safe and happy. Stay gratified about the little things in life that your parents do every day for you. Because sometimes, the mere presence of family is enough to keep the soul happy.

So, these were some simple ways in which you can celebrate Global Day of Parents. Do not let this occasion pass by just like that. Embrace your parents in whatever way you feel like. Remember to love your parents always, no matter how they are.
