World Rose Day: History
World Rose Day for cancer patients pays a tribute to the brave and courageous Melinda Rose; a Canadian girl who was diagnosed with an Askin tumour at the age of 12. Realising she did not have much time, she chose to spend whatever time she had cheering other cancer patients and giving a ray of hope, comfort and positivity.
She wrote poems, letters, verses, emails, etc. and shared them with others around her. Her kindness and lively spirit worked as an inspiration for many as well as led to the establishment of World Rose Day.
Melinda went up to live for the next six months battling the deadly disease. With a brave heart and cheerful face, she made each day count by inspiring the lives of others around her.
