About Women's Day
Every year International Women’s Day is celebrated across the globe on March 8th. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements in the social, economic, cultural, and political fields. The world joins hands together to support, motivate, inspire, and raise women across different fields of work. A number of programs are observed on Women’s Day across the world to create awareness about different social issues such as gender inequality, domestic violence, pay gap, and female foeticide. These programs encourage people to eradicate all sorts of violence and social injustice that women are subjected to in every field on an everyday basis. So that they can live a better and independent life and realize all their dreams and passions.
Origin of Women's Day
In 1910, Clara Zetkin proposed the idea of International Women’s Day at the 2nd International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen. The first International Women’s Day held on 19th March 1911. In 1913, IWD was shifted to 8th March and it is celebrated on this day ever since.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, reinforcing the need for immediate and impactful efforts to break down systemic barriers.
